The official website of the Miss World beauty pageant and the website specialized on beauty contests in the world – Global Beauties – have introduced Duong Truong Thien Ly, the second runner-up of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, as Vietnamese contestant at Miss World 2008.
Thien Ly is now a second-year student at the Saint Mary University, USA. She is 1.69m tall, with body measurement of 88-64-94.
Besides the second runner-up title at Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, she won several prizes at a recent international model contest in New York this August.

She's already a sophomore in university (by the way, the school sounds completely unfamiliar), how come she's introducing herself as a freshman. Wouldn't it be contradictory 0_0 ??? She's a sheer liar. Thien Ly never reveals true information about herself. It's like she's trying to hide something about her identity.
Anyways, I don't get why they chose her to be Miss Vietnam contestant. Couldn't they find someone else who deserves this better? Where's Ngo Phuong Lan? This girl really has what it takes to compete in Miss World. She would have been a perfect representative of Vietnam this year.
I try not to be a bad critic... her English is fine but she's got funny grammar (if not saying ridiculous)... not good enough to be judged as native speaker (god, no way). In fact, she couldn't have made it this far. Ly was lucky that the real contestant got swept away after they found out about the girl's scandal that she did not graduate from high school.
Her English is fine for a girl who is only a freshman in college; beside English is not her native language anyway so give her a break.
Moveover, her school is located by Notre Dame University in Notre Dame, Indiana. If you didn't know what a college Notre Dame is, you wouldn't have known anything about education anyway; so quit judging other people while you do not have a slightly bit of expertise in the field.
